The Gower is one of the few remaining relatively un-commercialized tourist areas in the U.K. It offers the delights of numerous picturesque bays and coves, most with beaches which can be enjoyed by families or those seeking a more secluded beach holiday.
Some of the beaches are overlooked by ruined castles while others offer surfers some of the best waves in the country.
The north coast runs down to the estuary of the River Loughor and Bury Inlet. Here the flat expanse of the Llanrhidian Sands provide easy coastal walks and views across the river to Llanelli. Horses and sheep graze on these lowlands and the coastal lane is ideal for cycling.
